Airtel and Idea to Jointly offer 3G on more areas

3G to be available in more number of Cities and Towns
Vodafone, Idea Cellular, and Bharti Airtel have decided to complement their nationwide presence by using each other's networks, through inter and intra-circle circle roaming agreements, to provide for seamless low cost pan-India 3G services to their customer

The deal will allow 3G users of any of these three companies to connect to the others 3G network in areas where the user's mobile operator doesn’t provide those services. The reported sharing arrangements are as follows:

Idea has entered an agreement with Vodafone to introduce 3G services in Delhi and Kolkata circles and it will also collaborate with Airtel to provide 3G services in Karnataka.

Vodafone has partnered with Idea to provide 3G services in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh and it plans to introduce these services in UP (West) through Airtel's network.
Airtel has partnered up with Idea to share the latters 3G network in Gujarat.

Out of a total of 22 telecom circles in India, the breakdown of circle ownership is as follows:

Bharti Airtel has licenses for the following 13 circles: Delhi, Mumbai, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh (W), Rajasthan, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, North East, Jammu & Kashmir.

Idea Cellular has licenses for the following 11 circles: Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh (E), Uttar Pradesh (W), Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir.

Vodafone Essar has licenses for the following 9 circles: Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Calcutta, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh (E), West Bengal.

No details have yet been provided on the revenue sharing mechanism among these operators
